How to Turn Off Autoplay Videos

Here’s how to turn off autoplay videos on Twitter, Chrome, Facebook, Instagram, and  YouTube. These autoplay videos are annoying and everyone wants to avoid the autoplay as it is disturbing and to prevent bandwidth. 

Almost all social media platforms have added this so-called feature to their offer list. It’s not always a welcome addition it’s annoying for most users. This feature can drain your battery fastly and also will eat more data. Another issue connected with this is the relevant and inappropriate video content that you don’t want to see without a warning.

But you can turn off the service whenever you want. Following are the ways you can use on different platforms to turn off the autoplay video setting

Facebook

Autoplay video option and Facebook provide a lot of benefits to Facebook as it provides them millions of views. To turn off the autoplay video feature on Facebook, you need to follow the following steps On facebook.com you need to click on the option of setting and privacy and after that click on Video setting.

You will see different options like video settings and in that option, you will find the autoplay video option. Click the downward-facing arrow on the upper right. You will see it is set on default, All you need to do is to shift it from default to Off.

Twitter

You can turn off the autoplay video setting on both twitter.com and also from mobile. if you want to turn it off from IOS or Android follow the next step. All you need to do is to Select Setting and Privacy and then the Display and sound option. After that uncheck Media Preview.

On Twitter.com, click the three-dot and select Settings and privacy Click Accessibility, display, and language > Data usage > Autoplay > Never, and this will prevent videos from automatically playing as you scroll.

Google Chrome

There is no feature introduced by Chrome to turn off autoplay videos so unfortunately, it’s not possible to turn off autoplay videos on Google chrome. There used to be a command-line flag but that was experimental but it disappeared.

You can turn off the sound that might help a bit. All you need to do is to click on the three dots and select Settings > Site Setting > Sound. You can also make exceptions for some specific sites.

Firefox

You can turn off autoplay videos on firefox, for the most part. Click on the three lines in the upper right corner and select Preferences. In the left-hand column, click on Privacy & Security. Scroll down to the section “Permissions” and find  “Autoplay.”

Click on the button Settings. Now, in the drop-down menu that appeared you can make settings accordingly. You can audio and video, block audio, or block audio and videos.

Instagram

Instagram provides the option of less data usage that can help you to prevent autoplay videos There is no such special feature to turn off the autoplay videos option on Instagram. 

On mobile, go to your profile, select the hamburger icon on the top right, tap Settings > Account > Cellular Data Use, select Use Less Data and turn it on.

YouTube

YouTube allows its user to enable and disable autoplay videos. Look for the small prompt; if you’re using YouTube on mobile. Click it to enable or disable it. YouTube is a big platform so it makes sure to be less annoying to its users.
